About Superior Financial
Peter Melsness CFP® is the founder and owner of Superior Financial and provides fee-only financial advice to individuals and families, with a particular focus on retirees and those approaching retirement. Through a comprehensive financial planning process, Peter helps clients navigate retirement income planning, tax-efficient strategies, and estate planning with clarity and confidence.

Located in Rochester, Minnesota, Superior Financial serves clients throughout Southeast Minnesota and works remotely with clients across the country.

As an independent, fee-only registered investment advisor firm, Superior Financial does not accept commissions of any kind. This structure supports open, transparent relationships and allows the firm to provide objective advice that is always aligned with clients’ best interests.

Superior Financial works with clients on a fiduciary basis, meaning the firm’s only obligation is to its clients—not to brokerage firms, mutual fund companies, or insurance companies. This commitment to independence and integrity is central to how we deliver thoughtful, trustworthy financial guidance.
